Me and Mr B headed north for Christmas to spend with family in Durham and York. One of our Christmas rituals is spending going back to Seaham Hall.
We enjoyed a really romantic walk along the seafront at Seaham where the North Sea looks incredibly dramatic at this time of year. Waves crashing against the rocks and dark looming skies. No wonder Byron took to poetry!
So this year we didn’t have time for the full spa works however we did pop in to the Bryon Bar at Seaham Hall for a wee dram of something to warm the cockles!
Wow! What changes! The entire hotel is in the throws of a huge revamp….The Bryon Bar looks like a traditional drawing room in a stately home complete with new fabrics, bar and beuatifully luxurious decor. I sneaked a look at the restaurant (formerly the White Room) and it seems some major changes are taking place.
I’m incredibly nostalgic about this part of the world and Seaham Hall is a wonderful place in a dramatic setting….although I have a feeling that it may just be becoming a little better!
