Tumeric Tea Tonic

Well hello there,

Its been a while.  Summer and other work stuff just got in the way.  However I’ve freed up my diary for the next couple of months to bring you at least one post a week.

As it’s started to turn cold outside I’ve begun to look after myself inside.

Now I love a cup of herbal tea.  I’m used to using herbal tea bags, but just recently I’ve started making tea from scratch with natual ingredients.

My new concoction is an alternative to lemon and ginger tea which I regularly make.  This one includes tumeric which it turns out is a super spice. It’s detoxifying, anti inflamitary, and anti bacterial.

So how do you do it?

I start by grating a lump of ginger, ideally you want a heaped teaspoon but if you grate more just stick it in a jar in the fridge.

Next I squeeze half a lemon into the teapot.

Then its the tumeric.  Dont go heavy i’d say less than half a teaspoonful is all that you will need.

If you want that final pep add a pinch of cayenne pepper.

Now add the boiling water and allow to infuse for 10 mins.

Tast a little, depending on the quantities I sometimes add honey to sweeten.

Now pour yourself a lovely cup of tumeric bliss tea, light a few candles and relax.

Love DSB x
